Not all additions are improvements: this classic, shingled cottage had been unsympathetically altered over its hundred-year history to an unrecognizable state. We stripped off the various alterations and rebuilt the original home to accommodate a family of six with room to host friends and extended family. An addition containing a two-story entry hall with turreted stair, a paneled Great Room with a cathedral ceiling, comfortable kitchen and home office doubles the size of the original home while maintaining the original shingle style that defines a summer on Cape Cod. Contained within the nautical themed finishes and period details are a geothermal heating and cooling system among other state-of-the-art systems, saving both money and the environment surrounding this summer home.
