This 1895 eleven story building constructed amidst the elegant rowhouses of the grand avenue was one of the earliest buildings in the world to have an elevator. The conveyance systems invention also required an innovative steel framing system, given opportunity of height. Our restoration utilized one of the first mechanized parking system to be installed in the state, requiring many of the large steel columns to be relocated- a very complex and technically challenging process. The 10 full floor or more residences were designed to attract buyers of many tastes, but the luxurious finishes and detailing appealed to all. Complete restoration of the facades and interiors were required for the next century of this wonderful building’s life.
